What stays on your machine, what leaves it, and how to control diagnostic uploads.

Last updated 2026-05-23 · Applies to NotBot 1.3.4+

NotBot does most of its work locally. This page lists exactly what stays on your machine, what leaves it, and how to control the parts that leave.

What stays on your machine

All show history is stored locally on your computer. That includes:

  • Show metadata (dates, sellers, stream identifiers).
  • Auction, giveaway, and Buy It Now records.
  • Buyer-number assignments.
  • Chat participant tracking.
  • Bid feed history.
  • Print queue entries.

App settings live in a separate local file in the same folder as the show database.

Locations:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/notbot/
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\notbot\

Cross-device sync is on the roadmap but not yet shipped. Until then, the data on each machine is its own and does not synchronize automatically.

What leaves your machine

NotBot communicates with MellowState for a small, fixed set of reasons:

  • Authentication and subscription checks. Sign-in, staying signed in, and verifying your subscription is active. See Account & Billing.
  • Auto-update. Checking for new versions of NotBot.
  • Diagnostic logs. When something goes wrong, NotBot sends log entries to our support systems so we can diagnose the issue. The logs include event categories, label decisions (queued, skipped), platform names, item names, buyer usernames, timestamps, basic system info (your operating system and NotBot version), and the names of your printers. They do not contain credit-card numbers, shipping addresses, or your account password.
  • Print metrics. One record per print attempt is sent in the background. Each record contains a timestamp, the label type and size, success or failure, an optional error message on failure, and the platform. No buyer names, item names, or prices are in this stream.

If you have specific privacy concerns about what's in the diagnostic logs from your machine, email support and we can pull and review them with you.

Where your data goes

NotBot talks to mellowstate.com for sign-in, diagnostics, and update checks. The service is hosted in the US. If you have a regulatory requirement to keep traffic in a different region, contact us. We can talk about it but we can't promise anything different today.
